Brave Soles believes in the power of circular fashion to build a better future for all of us. Founded in 2017 by Christal Earle, Brave Soles is focused on crafting footwear and accessories with up-cycled materials through ethical, small scale production chains.
Their shoes have up-cycled tire soles and all accessories are hand-crafted from reclaimed leather from aircraft seats and other sources.
The brand was inspired by the founder’s work with vulnerable landfill workers around the world. Through research and local partnerships, she discovered that a fashion business model focused on meaningful work, responsible production and within the reach of average consumers could help inspire and create meaningful change.
Discarded tires and other usable materials fill landfills, ditches and waterways around the world. They are biohazardous and they pose significant health risks. Yet materials such a s tires, deadstock fabrics and leathers present endless opportunities for circular fashion designs. Through a simple and scalable process, Brave Soles is creating fashion that is kind to both people and the planet – and built on a circular economy.
In 2019 Brave Soles were nominated for a Canadian Fashion innovation award and they are part of numerous initiatives across the globe to help create a more sustainable future through the power of ethical fashion.
